Free Trade North and Key National Accounts

Marston’s is a successful and ever-expanding organization, and we continuously strive to evolve and meet the needs of consumers, our customers and our drinks categories. Our wines and spirits business has developed immensely in the last 5 years, most recently with the significant step of acquiring Cockburn & Campbell wine merchants, one of the oldest continuously trading wine merchants in the UK. We have been up and running for over 12 months now under the Cockburn and Campbell banner with some key successes. We are looking for a motivated individual to join our team and help strengthen Cockburn & Campbell and deliver further success.

Could you?

  • Identify, target and win new Free Trade wine accounts across the north region, working in close partnership with a team of Business Development Managers (BDMs). You would be co-visiting prospects with BDMs and acting as their consultant, building tailored range proposals and providing any necessary support or expertise to win the business.
  • Work with BDMs to build a pipeline of new business, gaining their commitment for your sales-building initiatives. Teams will be enthusiastic for your support, so you’ll need to be clear on which activities will deliver the best commercial return.
  • Nurture key National Accounts relationships, providing an appropriate level of support and understanding their internal culture. You’ll need to use insights and your own expertise to influence the accounts, aiming to grow wine and spirits sales for both parties.
  • Use category insights to underpin your sales approach, helping to simplify the wine category for our customers without dumbing it down. You’ll need to keep up with market trends, competitive threats and commercial opportunities.
  • Build capability and confidence among sales teams, enabling them to grow wine and spirit business with minimal input from you. This will amplify your impact in the sales region.
  • Report back regularly on sales performance.
  • Liaise with internal teams to help deliver excellent product-related communication.

Are you?

An individual with the desire to make a difference, as well as the drive to challenge, in order to make things happen? The Wine and Spirits team need proven sales professionals with a passion for the category who can demonstrate entrepreneurial spirit and the capability to dream big.

We’re also after:

  • An individual trained to WSET L3 as a minimum. Qualification to train WSET would be ideal!
  • A confident communicator with first class presentation and communication skills
  • An individual with strong commercial awareness
  • An individual who is committed to development and continuous improvement

As well as the career development opportunities that make working with Marston’s Beer Company so rewarding, we'll also throw in a competitive salary, a car allowance and flexible benefits including private medical insurance.
